The fireworks were the end of the reception and that night. However, the next morning they were having brunch for everyone back at the Villa. Everyone included ANYONE who was still in town and wanted to stop by for an AMAZING breakfast! They had biscuits and gravy, ham, sausage, egg casserole, and fruit. It was REALLY good. The biscuits were SO good that I had one with jam, one with gravy and one plain- yep, I was starving :)
This was a nice, relaxed time to visit with everyone. When people finished their breakfast they usually headed out, a few remained into the early afternoon and then headed out. Cass and Nick opened presents and cards they had received once it was just family there. We hung out by the pool again (Caylee swam with Matt). Dad and Deb left that afternoon, but the rest of my family was in town til the next day. We were all able to go out to a nice dinner at Texas Cattle and Land. It was amazing, but I was disappointed they had run out of quail. I LOVE quail and rarely get it. Oh well! Another time :)
After the dinner, Matt and I decided to hit the road. We had to be out of the room we were staying in and had initially planned on moving over to the Villa. However, once we packed, we realized we may as well just leave. Everyone else would be flying out Monday anyways, so it didn't make sense to unpack for one night. We drove through the night... all the way home... 11 hours! You'd think driving through the night would be easy, but it was HARD. Micah decided he did not want to sleep in his car seat. My theory: at night he ALWAYS sleeps on his belly, so I think he wanted to and couldn't. This meant that whoever wasn't driving had to keep a pacifier in his mouth and "shush" him every now and then. It kept him quiet and kept Caylee asleep. Still... Caylee was up around 5 am and we arrived home around 7:30ish. Needless to say, naps were GREAT that day... and we were all in bed no later than 8:30!
There ya go.... that's the wrap up of the entire week! What a whirlwind! We're so happy for Nick and Cass and can't wait to see them again soon :)
(Bottom left pic) Poor Tom had wanted to hold Caylee all weekend, but she wasn't having it. Until Sunday! Then she climbed up in his lap... until she saw Linda :) Then she headed over to her :)
Caylee ate Matt's salad with blue cheese dressing! Go figure. It was the one thing she decided to like at dinner. Luckily, Uncle Nick was there to finish her grilled cheese... he really had his eye on it! They also gave Cass and Nick a free dessert- of course, she chose the chocolate cake with... wait for it... ..... ... BLUE BELL ICE CREAM!!! and raspberry sauce.... they graciously shared with the table (Nick is already rubbing off on her, bc she doesn't share dessert!) It was SO delicious!
If Micah's head had been showing this would have been an awesome family shot. Oh well, close enough!!
Love y'all!! Can't wait for the next big get together!
