More Adventures in Potty Training!

Well... it's been 1 full week of potty training for Caylee.  She started last Wednesday and we have made it through today with ZERO accidents!!!

So.. potty training is AWFUL :)  I hate when people say "my kid potty trained soooo easily".  Not true.  Caylee is doing fantastic and we've made a TON of progress in a week, but nothing about it has been easy.  I am constantly reminding her to tell me if she needs to go.  I'm trying to hold Micah and help her (Micah won't leave us alone in the bathroom and rather than him stand holding onto the toilet, which is his preference, I just hold him).  I've done more laundry than I can count :)  and... it's just plain tiring.

All that said.... Caylee is doing really well and I am very proud.  I know it will be worth it here soon.  For our week, we have pretty much stayed indoors.  It's been gorgeous out and we've taken small walks, but I wanted to be able to catch everything for a while and really keep us on a tight schedule of going potty.  The first 3 days we were running to the bathroom every 2 minutes (literally!).  By day 4, she was finally able to start holding it longer and now she could easily make it an hour (maybe more), but I don't go past about 45 minutes.  Today she went ALL day without an accident, she even started telling me on her own that she needed to go.  The bad news.... she is TERRIFIED to poop.  Yep.... many kids are (the more I read online and hear from other moms).  However, she isn't a 4 year old that I can explain things too... I explain, I try to make it fun, I offer big rewards... she is still scared.  The first time caused a minor set back and she didn't want anything to do with the potty anymore.  Instead of giving up, I changed the reward.  We now get chocolate chips instead of fruit snacks :)  Chocolate works for any girl! :) I have her in a diaper for naps and nighttime (I'm not ready for that yet), so sometimes she wakes up dirty.  But for the most part I've still had to battle with her to make her stay on the potty when she gets scared.

Anyways.... whoever says their kid trained easily is lying.  I would say Caylee is training as easily as any other kid and it's still exhausting.  I think I need a reward when this is over :)

I haven't gone completely stir crazy, but I'm sure by the end of this week I'll be there.  Thankfully, next week is busy so it'll really put this week to the test.  I think it will be good for all of us though.
