Matt bought me some earrings and a necklace... very pretty (combined bday and mother's day gifts). I was able to wear the earrings with my dress today! He also brought home a sausage biscuit from McD's when he came in from treating a horse. YUM!
It was also child dedication day at church. They had a really nice ceremony for the families. For those of you reading this that don't know us well, don't get this confused with baptism or salvation. We believe that everyone must make their own choice to follow Christ and only when they confess on their own can they be saved and go to heaven. Child dedication is our promise as parents to raise our children in a Godly home and point them to the Lord so that hopefully, one day, they will make that decision to follow Christ for themselves.
There were about 7 families and 12 kids being dedicated. We dedicated both Caylee and Micah since we never had the chance to dedicate Caylee before. Pastor Clark explained the dedication. He asked family and friends to stand, then he asked members of Calvary to stand. He explained that everyone would be responsible to come alongside and help guide our children to the Lord. It was pretty neat. Then he went to each child individually and prayed for every specific child and for the couples. That was special (although Caylee wasn't too thrilled with his hand being on her foot or back!). Each child was handed a baton. The baton symbolized the race we are running and encouraged parents to continue on. Inside the baton is a letter from Pastor Clark to each child that they are to read on their 13th birthday. (I need to remember where I put these!!!) It was a great ceremony and very special to us. Matt's brother and parents had come up for it and we all headed to subway for lunch after church. We came home, Matt and Mark fixed the mower and then everyone headed out shortly after.
The kids didn't really nap, so it hasn't been a super relaxing day, but still a good day. (FREEZING COLD though... 49! **Thus the jacket in the outdoor pics**)
**Caylee wanted to hang tight to Matt (he hasn't been home too much and she was so excited to see him!), so she didn't want in this pic. Micah is too young to put up a fuss :) Love this pic of us though!
