This year, I chose for our family not to travel far anywhere. Poor Matt didn't have much of an option, but being 8 months pregnant I am not in the mood to drive much more than 45-1hr. However, some very dear family friends have parents who live just 35 min from us. They invited us out there (they are Matt's second family for sure). We had Caylee all dressed up (because she's little and I can still do that!) and headed on out. They were so wonderful and had so many gifts for Caylee to open while their kids opened presents too. Caylee got 2 baby dolls (a boy and girl), a shopping cart/baby cart, a small horse and some books. She was definitely in heaven with the babies and learned quickly how to give them a bottle. She was so proud!
Then we headed to the fairgrounds for their extended family (no pics unfortunately), but Caylee again was loving it. She loved all the people... specifically the old men. If you're old, a man and maybe have a little extra weight, she will love you instantly! The men just know how to leave her alone until she gets comfortable with new surroundings, women tend to overload kids (I do it too!), but the men wait patiently. Sure enough, by the end of the evening she had reached her arms for 3 of them to hold her. The bigger kids had a ball that she took from them too... they were sweet and let her play with it though.
All in all, we had a wonderful evening with them! We did miss Christmas Eve service, but our church had done a pageant-type thing Sunday morning. Plus, Caylee probably would not have sat still through an entire service. It was so fun spending Chistmas Eve with extended family!
Learning how to unwrap...
Thinks the baby bottle is hers...
Daddy teaching her how to feed the doll... she was very good at this by the end of the night...
Found Great Grandma Betty would give her "more" whenever she asked.... Checking with me to see if it's ok (I went light on the dinner for her, knowing she would ask everyone for "more")...
Trying to show Courtney that the baby goes in the car, but the door won't open... that was frustrating for her! But she'll learn :)
