Yes, Caylee's 8 month post is about a week and a half late. However, on her actual 8 month bday (Mon, June 25) we were in the process of moving. Since then things have been ultra crazy... but all that later!
8 Months! I can't believe how time has flown, but we're loving every minute and loving watching her grow. On her 8 month bday she also decided to start crawling!! Matt saw her first. This is nice because he rarely gets to see any "firsts". He told me she just crawled a few spaces. I didn't believe him, but sure enough we put her on some carpet and there she went. It was slow at first, but this past week she has really picked up speed! (Especially if it's something she can't have, but really wants... like all the cords laying around while we unpack!) Other than crawling, she's been "talking" a lot more. She says "dada", but I don't think she quite relates it to Matt yet. However, if I say "Look, there's Daddy" she'll definitely pop her head up and look around until she spots him.
She started clapping too! She was very very close to clapping when Sherry was in town and then over the weekend in Iowa. But officially, she started clapping, on her own, on her 8 month bday. I can sing "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" and she'll clap along with me. She also claps if we praise her for something and say "Yea Caylee!". Pretty funny!
Food wise, she is still eating the baby food from jars. I have not done the jars with mashed meat or other things like mac and cheese... makes me sick just thinking about it! While we eat we've been giving her some fruit (strawberry, watermelon, pineapple) to gnaw on... she really likes them, but isn't too fond of swallowing the big pieces yet. She'll get there! We tried a green bean one night too and that did not go over well, she gagged the whole thing. She will chew on carrots though and it seems that her top teeth might be coming in because she really likes the texture of the carrots.
She's in 9 month clothes, but just because she's tall... she's got some chubby cute cheeks, but she's definitely not fat... she gets all that height from Matt obviously!
I tried to get a few pics of her on the actual 8 month day, but since she discovered how to crawl it was VERY difficult! But here ya go....
And yes... she is always this happy. She's really a SUPER happy baby! She loves smiling at people :) The only time she's really cranky is between 5:30 and 6:30 at night... then we have "Mommy/Caylee chill time on the couch", but that's good, I love that time! Otherwise, she's pretty content and very curious about all her toys.
She is soooo precious. I love her happiness! Treasure this time. It'll be gone before you know it.
